Synopsis
Ten Steps to Surviving a New Job:   1. Don’t sleep with the client. It’ll get you fired. (Sounds easy enough.)   2. Don’t blink when new client turns out to be former one-night stand.   3. Don’t call same client a jerk for never texting you back.   4. Don’t believe client when he says he really, really wanted to call.   5. Remember, the client is always right—so you can’t junk punch him when he demands new design after new design.   6. Ignore accelerated heartbeat every time sexy client walks into room.   7. Definitely ignore client’s large hands. They just mean he wears big gloves.   8. Don’t let client’s charm wear you down. Be strong.   9. Whatever you do, don’t fall for the client. You’ll lose more than your job—maybe even your heart.   10. If all else fails, see rule number one again.

REVIEW

The Rule Breaker Series by Jennifer Blackwood continues with The Rule Maker which gives us Zoey's story. Zoey being Lainey's best friend, and what a story she brings us. I love the set up of the books in this series, the "Rules" listed in the synopsis always have me laughing while intrigued to watch it all play out.

When Zoey is called in for a new job, she never dreams she'll run into Ryder, the man who broke her heart months ago, but she can hold her own, right?! Ryder didn't mean to hurt Zoey, he just didn't realize until too late that they weren't on the same page.  When his brother ropes him into taking care of the current restoration project and puts him directly working with Zoey he's not about to give up on the chance to work with her even though he knows she's not happy.

The Rule Maker was laugh out loud funny at times, with a bit of swoon here and there, and let's not forget the steam.  Ryder and Zoey were so much fun to watch as they attempted to work together and ignore the serious chemistry sparking between them and the fact that what they had was so much more than what caused the issues between them.

I really love the aspect of workplace romances - beacuse there is so much that can go wrong, that hint of risky behavior just adds a touch of something to the story.  The fact that Zoey knows going into the job that she can't let her guard down because for her its all about being professional so she doesn't lose her job, well that made it all the more fun to watch as she tried to hold her own against Ryder - who I think would have done just about anything to get her to let him back in.

The Rule Maker will suck you in from the beginning with banter and wit, and keep you hooked as you fall for the swoony Ryder Covington and feisty Zoey.
