TRAE
It's a call that changes my life--and my little girl's. Years ago, playing for the NBA was the dream, but the Seattle Stallions suck. Worse than that, my old teammate is now the star center--not to mention my number one rival. There has to be a catch, some sort of agenda. Before I was injured, I was the best. Now? There's no way they want me.

But when I see the roster and salaries, it all comes together. It's a chance to get on the court again and change our lives. And I just can't wait for the opportunity to finally take him down. What I never counted on is Courtney Cohen being the game changer.

COURTNEY
I inherited the Bad News Bears of the NBA. When I discovered the star center, my ex fiancé, cheating on me, all I want is to jump ship before the whole thing sinks. But with revenge on my mind, I exact a plan. Take down the dirty player and save my father's dream.

Suddenly twelve minutes is too little time, and a season is not long enough.

EXCERPT

“You still afraid of me?” Courtney asks. I push her hair out of her face. “No.” “I’m afraid of you.” “No beer muscles tonight?” I ask, glancing at her empty glasses. She shakes her head. I scoot in closer to her. “Tell me what you’re afraid of.” “Liking you too much,” she says then takes a drink. I turn her in her seat so she’s facing me. “You’re gonna like me even more when I’m inside you.” Her body grows taut. “You can’t say stuff like that. It makes me uncomfortable.” “Well, now I’m going to have to do it more often to get you used to it; make you crave it, beg for it.”

Review

Offensive Rebound was a unique sports romance tale, one unlike others I've read.  MJ Fields created an interesting world for us to dive into and I enjoyed trying to figure out all of the little details as I read along.

Courtney Cohen is struggling, she's inherited a basketball team from her father, and she's got a lot to do to prepare herself for the role of taking it on, and gaining respect as she does it.  Especially since the man she thought she would marry but hurt her is the so called star of the team.  But Little does Courtney know how taking over as owner is going to change her life.

Trae agreed to help Charlie Cohen by joining his team for a season. He has his own personal reasons for agreeing to their arrangement, starting with revenge against one of the other players who wronged him.  But Trae's about to find out that there is something stronger than a desire for revenge; love.

Trae and Courtney have instant chemistry - but that doesn't mean they are quick to act on it.  I really enjoyed the banter between them as they worked together and grew closer.  I liked the angle that it was Courtney against the team until Trae stepped in and took her side and tried to help her win other players over.  It was fitting that he was the first to give her what she deserved as team owner.

There was drama within the pages, a fight between two men over Courtney - not a love triangle, but one man determined to have her because he can't do without and another man who more wanted her for what she represented.  Courtney's history with her father really added another element to the story as you see all that he lay out for her future, in the hopes of doing right by her in death as he hadn't fully done in life.

Even more than the connection and blooming friendship turned relationship between Trae and Courtney, the side characters of this book really drew me in and held my attention. From a best friend who made me laugh out loud one moment, to wanting to offer up a hug the next, a mother who thought she knew what was best, but really didn't understand her daughter, to other players who knew how to live it up.  Each person was integral to how the story unfolded and what happened between our main couple; but more than that, each person made me long for more of their story too.

Offensive Rebound was funny, it was heart warming and heart breaking, it was an emotional journey as much as anything else.
