Depths of Salvation
Sadie Jenkins’ most recent site of preservation is a sunken WWII cargo ship off the coast of the Bahamas. When a giant corporation threatens to blow it up to make way for an underwater gas pipeline, Sadie is forced to prove to the Headof Government the importance and value of her site. And when assistance comes from a bad-boy welder who works for the corporation, she ends up battling not only the people trying to demolish her site, but her heart as well—because its latched on to the one man who can save her ship or destroy it.

Connell Murphey is the best underwater welder this side of the Atlantic and thrives when the stakes are highest. When Slade Industries offers him a dangerous gig with a big pay off, he can’t wait to sign on. When a local marine preservationist gives Slade trouble—her site’s protection would cost him millions to go around it instead of through it—Slade offers Connell the deal of a lifetime: twelve million has his name on it if he gets close to Sadie and testifies to the Head of Government that her site isn’t worth saving. Should be easy money.

That is, until he meets Sadie. She’s a force to be reckoned with and the only woman who has ever been able to not only keep pace with him on a dive but completely surpass him on every level. She’s smart, sexy, and their chemistry is off the charts. The more he gets to know her, the harder he falls but he’s already in too deep with the deal he made with Slade.

When the time comes, will he be able to turn down the money and choose the girl of his dreams, or will too many lies kill his only chance at forever?

Depths of Salvation is an amazing story that's more than a romance novel. The characters are well written and complex and the story is unusual but fun and fresh.

Sadie is a preservationist, charged with discovering the ecosystem surrounding a sunken WWII ship and protecting it. She takes her job seriously, and has fallen in love with her ship, and the job or protecting it. Sadie knows she's found important things at the site and that the preservation of such should take precedence over anything else, including the gas pipeline being built, no matter the financial impact it could have.  Sadie thought it was settled, but then the company building the pipeline took back their agreement to build around the site, and now she's in for the fight of her life.

Connel is an underwater welder, a free agent, currently working for Slade industries, he thrives on being underwater, the feeling giving him an escape from that which haunts his mind. So when Slade ups the game and gives him a more specific task with a huge payout, Connel is all to happy to accept; all he has to do is get close to Sadie, and show that her site isn't worth saving and bid in favor of the pipeline.  It sounds like an easy win and quick money for Connel, and then he meets Sadie.

The chemistry between Sadie and Connel is off the charts, and they can't deny it for long. But how long can it last when there are secrets and built up walls standing between them. Sadie is determined to not only prove the importance of her site, but also to use her findings to hopefully help others. Her intentions are all about what she can do if she saves the site and the ecosystem of it stays intact, rather selfless of her.   Connel is struggling with internal battles, not just over Sadie and her site and the hard place he finds himself in because of his deal with Slade, but also coming to terms with other demons from the past. At first, Connel seems very selfish in his motivation for taking the job; it's all about the money, but things aren't always what they seem.   Emotions and Tensions are high throughout this book for both Connel and Sadie which really added some great angst to the story and hyped up my curiousity on how things were going to proceed.

Depths of Salvation was intricately detailed and it managed to pull me in from page one, to grab my heart and hold it hostage until the very end.  From the characters and their dedication to their work, their connection, the way they were so similar and yet not fully the same, it really added something to the story.  I really loved watching as it all played out and seeing first hand the struggle as Connel decided what really mattered.
